General Provisions Governing Qualifications for Office

The general qualifications of persons permitted to hold public office are set out in TCA § 8-18-101. This section provides that all persons of the age of eighteen (18) years who are citizens of the United States and of this state, and have been inhabitants of the state, county, district, or circuit for the period required by the constitution and laws of the state, are qualified to hold office under the authority of this state except:

General Provisions Governing the Causes of Vacancies

The booklet below contains campaign financial disclosure information and instructions to be used in the filing of campaign disclosure statements by candidates and single-candidate campaign committees for state and local elected public offices. Candidates or single-candidate committees should review the applicable campaign finance laws, rules and guidelines. Also, contained in the booklet are separate instructions for completing each form and sample completed forms.

The following booklet contains the campaign financial disclosure reporting forms to be used in the filing of campaign disclosure statements by candidates and single-candidate campaign committees for state and local elected public offices. 

The Appointment of Political Treasurer statement must be used to appoint a political treasurer as required by the Campaign Financial Disclosure Act (T.C.A. § 2-10-105) for state and local candidates and single- candidate political campaign committees.  A form is provided below:
